Troop
1191 – Monthly Campout Guidelines
The following
guidelines pertain to all monthly campouts for Troop 1191 by
Registered Scouts and Adults.
Meal Prep –
Each patrol will
be responsible for buying and cooking their own meals during the
campout. Meals are to be cooked at the campout – no canned
dinners. Food group selections are encouraged. Patrol members will
take turns buying the food. The cost of the food is divided equally
among the patrol members who go on the campout. Food costs are
typically $5.00 to $10.00 per scout.
Headcount, menu,
cook, and buyer is planned the troop meeting before the campout.
If you plan to
attend a campout and food has been purchased for you, you will owe
the purchaser your share of the costs if you cannot attend the
campout unless the purchaser is notified the Thursday before the
departure to the campout. This applies to scouts and adults.
Departure from Jess
Harben –
Please see Troop
1191 website for complete departure procedures.
All participants
must provide parental permission prior to leaving on the event.
A Transportation
fee of $5.00 will be collected from each scout who doesn’t
have a parent attending.
Electronic devices
such as personal stereos and hand held games are not permitted at
scouting events.
Soft drinks (pop)
are not acceptable beverages at campouts.
“Class A”
uniforms (official scout shirt) must be worn when the troop is
traveling, “Class B” (troop t-shirt) is worn in camp.
Camp Set Up –
There will be a
Scout area and an Adult area. Scouts are not allowed in adult areas
except when permission is obtained, or to seek the Scoutmaster or
other adult in an emergency.
The Adult and
Scout Quartermasters will distribute tents and other equipment from
the trailer.
The troop has
tents for all scouts to use. Adults can use their own tent or a
troop tent.
While at Camp –
The Buddy System
is always in effect – never go off alone. Inform an Adult
before leaving camp area.
BSA Policy of “Two
Deep Leadership” is strictly enforced.
All scouts are
expected to participate in events scheduled for the campout. This
includes formations, campfires and other schedules activities.
No food in tents.
Break Down of Camp
and Return to Jess Harben-
All vehicles must
depart at the same time. There will be no ‘come and go’
unless approved by the SM. Manpower is needed to set up camp on
Friday and take down on Sunday.
If tents are wet
you may be asked to take one home to care for. Set it up or hang it
up until it is thoroughly dry. Return it to the Quartermaster at the
next troop meeting.
Misc. –
If there is a
problem or question at the campout, scouts should seek advice from
their Patrol Leaders and Senior Patrol Leader, who is turn will seek
advice from the Scoutmaster if needed.
The recommended list of gear for scouts to bring on campout can be
found in the Scout Handbook.
*** BSA Rules do not permit camouflage clothing or gear. ***
